In the Matter of the Marriage of C.M. and M.M., Docket No. 127,280 (Ks. Ct. of App. December 27, 2024. Reno Dist. Ct. remanded with directions). The Uniforn Servicemembers Civil Relief Act requires that a court not enter judgment unless an attorney is appointed to represent and protect a servicemember’s interest. The case, which apparently was litigated while the servicemember was deployed to Kuwait, is remanded to determine C.M.’s current military status and whether he should be appointed new counsel on appeal or be granted an opportunity to retain new appellate counsel, and the district court is instructed to determine what final orders it entered in matters involving the dissolution of the parties’ marriage.
